FRUIT LIQUEURS
Giffard Premium Liqueurs is
a family owned company specialised in the making of fine liqueurs and
syrups.
The production
is over 2,600 000 bottles per year.
The products are exported in more than 40 countries.
Located in France in the heart of the Loire Valley, the Giffard distillery
was founded in 1885 by Emile Giffard, at that time a dispensing pharmacist.
Inventive, curious and gourmet, he undertook research on the digestive
and refreshing properties of mint. He thereby invented a pure, clear
and refined white mint liqueur which he tested with the Grand Hotel's
customers, in order to relieve them from heat. Success came at once.
Emile changed his pharmacy into a distillery and called his liqueur MENTHE
PASTILLE, referring to the mint sweets very famous at that time. Four
generations later Giffard is still in the hands of the same family and
keeps quality as a motto from the origin.
The company offers a large range
of liqueurs — 40 flavours, and syrups.
They are the fruit of rigorous quality standard (ISO) and of more than a hundred
years of know-how. In every product, Giffard aims at catching the natural taste
of the fruit or
plant used.
Giffard manufacturing techniques respect traditional methods:
fruit maceration
and distillation. Each variety of fruit or plant is carefully selected for
its flavour, for example all the blackcurrants for Crème de Cassis
are bought fresh in the Loire Valley using the most flavoured variety “Noir
de Bourgogne” and
cherries for Cherry Brandy are “griottes” from South West of France…
Brand Information
The products are mainly created for the professional and cocktail
market. The more commonly used liqueurs are: Triple Sec, Blue Curaçao,
Apricot, Cacao, Crème de Menthe and Cherry.
Giffard often takes part
to cocktail competitions with Bartenders Associations and has created
its own annual cocktail competition “The Giffard
West Cup”, which is held in Avrillé each year in May with
bartenders from France and other countries.
Numerous varieties of
fruits and plants have been tested to select only the best, while guaranteeing
the origin of the product. Exclusively home-made fruit infusions have
been used as well as the best distillations to offer a strong and rich
aroma. We have blended aromas with the most appropriate spirits and
spices
to enrich aromas and obtain a perfect balance, 100 % natural.
